The Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye is a carrier-capable airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, widely known as the “eyes of the fleet.” It plays a vital role in detecting, tracking, and coordinating air and surface operations for the U.S. Navy and allied forces. Recognizable by its large rotating radar dome mounted above the fuselage, the E-2 serves as a command-and-control hub in the sky. The E-2 Hawkeye is the first purpose-built AEW aircraft designed specifically for operations from aircraft carriers, giving naval task forces extended radar coverage and improved coordination during complex missions.
